Transport also is handled really badly in my opinion, and the Tropico 4 system of cars was honestly fine because buses and cars in this game just don’t seem to work and besides metros the rest don’t either.Īnd the eras and mission systems… Tropico 5 barely pulled off an era system but Tropico 6 went way harder and made it very clear what a bad idea it is. The game doesn’t make choosing a particular kind of island sustainable or impactful, that and the endless boring faction events make it so that you always end up making the same island over and over again with a couple inconsequential flavor buildings here and there. But while there are a bunch of ideas in Tropico 6, they don’t land because they don’t matter. Everything about the Tropico is supposed to be about building different kinds of islands that work in really different ways is gone. No coups, rebels barely exist, no uprisings (the faction events don’t matter because they’re determined by totally irrelevant and chees-able things rather than from the game’s world), my people are somehow all educated and I’ve never build a school, politics isn’t interesting or tense, the economy system is just a mess. So Tropico 7 would be similar to 4-6, taking some mechanics out but providing them with their next DLC.Ħ tried to be like 4 but they broke the central core of the game.

But until now, I cannot Imagine that this will be realised.

I really would love a cities skylines - tropical theme. But I don't buy dlcs anymore to get one building, two policies and one stupid hat for my presidente I really don't care. I could leave with their DLC policy if they would be on the same level as cities skylines. As I cannot accept anymore the non existent game depth penetrated by too many dlc. It really felt being in some semi poor/touristic place in the carribean, mostly reminding me of the typical life in Cuba, Dominican Republic or Venezuela. Additionally I have to mention the beautiful atmosphere the first and the third one gave me. Personally, I loved all of them from 1 to 4 (even 2 was great). In the meanwhile they are in my eyes famous for mediocre "funny" games with interesting ideas, but far away of having game depth. The destiny of Tropico were chosen when Kalypso started to take over.
